Overview

Dayara Bugyal Trek Plans

The pastoral uplands of Uttarakhand’s alpine heights serve as starting and ending sites for many of the region’s most spectacular hikes. These fertile grassy uplands are known as the Bugyals, and they are hidden away in the folds of the mountains. Shepherds move their flocks there during the summer months, before the snow covers them and makes them unusable. Dayara is a Bugyal that is not as well known as some of the others and can be reached from Uttarkashi by way of a walk that is quite short and crisp; yet, this walk is one that results in spectacular rewards. In the native language of the area, the word “Dayara” refers to a circular parcel of land that mirrors the hoop-shaped grassy turf of this Bugyal. It is bordered by dark oak and maple trees, and beyond the green reaches, a bright snowline of the Bandarpoonch and other ranges can be seen in the distance. A meandering stroll through Dayara’s undulating meadows will lead you out of the world frames of its verdant ecology and into the hush-inducing solitude of the oak forests. Somewhere in the distance, a breathtaking peak view panorama will be slowly revealing itself to you as well. You may get glimpses of the Gangotri group of peaks, Srikanth peak, Bandarpoonch, and Black Peak at various points throughout the whole line. These peaks can be seen from a variety of vantage points. On the fourth day of the expedition, we reach another one of the journey’s high points as we climb up to Dayara Top, which is 12,100 feet higher than our Dayara campground. You may get reach the convergences of numerous neighbouring meadows, including the Giddara Bugyal, by walking up the ridge.

Itinerary Details

  • Day 1- Drive from Dehradun to Raithal

Raithal is a charming town that is well-known as the starting point of the Dayara Bugyal trek. The distance to Uttarkashi is around 38 km. The town is covered in a thick layer of verdant vegetation. The Bhagirathi River may be seen flowing all the way up to the settlement. The journey to Raithal is similar to a trail that winds its way through the mountains. When you reach Moryana top, you will get your first look of the Gangotri range and Shrikanth peak. If you want to take pictures of the magnificent peaks, you will have to stop here for a short rest. Shrikanth peak is one of the major peaks that can be seen from this vantage point, and the views of other mountain peaks improve as you come closer to Raithal. You will either stay in an authentic homestay or in a guest house for the night.

  • Day 2- From Raithal to Gui

Get an early start and be sure to have a positive attitude as you go out on the actual walk. This path winds its way through the thick vegetation of the rainforest. It is covered with silver and gold oak trees all throughout. The path to the campground is well defined, and it is never out of sight since it is located just in front of Gui. Since the path climbs gently, it will take around four to five hours to get to the next resting spot on the route. The camping spot is one of a kind due to the fact that, rather than mountains, it is surrounded by alpine trees. You will see the picturesque cottages of the town located next to the campground. Clear views of Gangotri range and Shrikanth peak can be seen from Gui, which offers a nearly same panorama to that seen from Raithal. You can calm down and re-energize yourself while gazing up at the breathtaking night sky.

  • Day 3- From Gui to Dayara Bugyal Trek

The day is becoming shorter, exactly as when you go trekking in the mountains. The path gradually climbs higher as the surrounding forest thins out and new views of a previously obscured neighbour mountain emerge. After winter, the snow does not start melting until around the middle of April. It's possible that the route will have some snow marks on it. In contrast to the campground from the previous day, Dayara Bugyal is an open area. The camps are going to be set up directly in the other direction, in front of the mountains. Once you have crept out of the tent, you will see that large peaks are directly in front of you. Some of these mountains are Bandarpoonch, Kala Nag, Srikhanth Mahadev, Draupadi ka Danda, and the peaks that are located nearby. The Dayara Bugyal hike is famous for its views of Bandarpoonch, but along the way, you will also see a great number of other magnificent peaks. The picture-perfect image of a camping site is created when there is still snow surrounding the tents. You are welcome to take a walk and become acquainted with the neighbourhood after lunch or before evening tea.

  • Day 4 - From Dayara Bugyal Trek to Dayara peak and back

The day of the summit has finally come. You will hike to the top of the mountain today, then make your way back to the campground. After passing through some tree cover for the first few feet, the path emerges into the open and leads to expansive meadows. Following this, you will find yourself walking through verdant meadows that are ablaze with a rainbow of colourful flowers. When you are traversing such a breathtaking landscape and taking in the breathtaking views of Bandarpoonch and the other peaks, it is easy to lose track of the fact that you are getting closer and closer to the summit. You can also come upon a water stream that has just a few drops of water in it. The last ascent is challenging, but it is well worth the effort since it will put you in a position where you can see the Dodital range in its entirety. The location of Bandarpooch seems to be within reaching distance. After that, you will arrive to the Gidara pass along the path. This pass denotes the difference between the Pichkiya and Gidara Bugyal routes. Allow yourself some time to get immersed in the tranquilly of the surrounding environment, and then retrace your steps to go back to the campground. It's possible that today may seem rather rushed, since our goal is to get at the campground by lunchtime.

  • Day 5 - From Dayara Bugyal Trek to Barsu and back to Dehradun

The day marks the conclusion of the short trip across the highlands. have up early and have everything packed up so that the memories of the walk may be placed in long-term storage. As you probably have predicted, the track is an easy descent all the way down to Barsu. Before you reach that point, you will see a beautiful lake close to Barnala. The area around the lake will be dotted with rustic cabins. A tranquil shrine dedicated to Kala Nath may be seen right next to the lake. Photographers who are interested in architecture will like the opportunity to take pictures of a temple that is situated next to a lake and is surrounded by mountains. Even though this is a rural area with a low population density, you will be surprised to discover how committed the locals are. Barnala is well-known for its excellent skiing conditions among outdoor enthusiasts. Barnala is located 5 km distant from Barsu. Simply by turning around and gazing back down the path, you will be able to experience the happy times of the past. It would seem that the summits of the mountains are trying to get in touch with you. Children and other residents may often be seen wandering about the Barsu hamlet since it is such a busy place. It takes around 7 hours to travel from Barsu to Dehradun. You are going to arrive at the station in the evening so that you may board the train that will bring you back to your cosy house. Home sweet home, where you will look back on the Dayara-Bugyal walk with nothing but fond memories.
