Overview

Phulara Ridge Trek Plans

The unknown Phulara ridge walk has the potential to become a balanced trip inside Govind Pashu Vihar National park when combined with the Kedarkantha and Har Ki Dun treks that are located nearby. In contrast to the other two well-known hikes, which are simply trails leading to the top of a mountain or through a river valley, the Phulara path takes hikers along a stunning section of a mountain ridge. This indicates that for a considerable distance you will be walking on a narrow raised crest, with slopes decreasing down on either side of this crest or ridge line where you will be walking. It is only natural that you will be able to view both sides of the mountain in their entirety while walking on it, which adds to the excitement. You have to go through some dark, deep alpine forest as well as some fields before you reach the ridge. To be noted are the enormous deodar and cedar trees that may be found in the chir or pine and oak forest that can be found at the lower altitude. You may discover a big number of rhododendrons in the middle range, bordering 2600 m / 8500 ft, and they will blossom throughout the spring in the months of March and April. Species with deciduous leaves, such as maple, walnut, and horse chestnut, begin to appear above this point. This will undoubtedly provide some vibrant colour to the autumn months of October and November. At an altitude of less than 3000 metres (10,000 feet), a light forest composed of blue pine, silver fir, and spruce grows beside open grasslands. On the right side of the Phulara mountain, you will see a treeline that is composed entirely of birch trees, which are the only ones that have survived. In addition to this, there is a length of this new route that consists of a delightful stroll over alpine meadows that are located above the treeline.

Itinerary Details

  • Day 1: Drive from Dehradun to Sankri

The picturesque town of Sankri serves as the departure point for the Phulara Ridge Trek. The road trip from Dehradun to Sankri is about 200 km long and travels through mountainous terrain on twisting roads. If you reserve your transportation with us, our cars will pick you up at the Dehradun I.S.B.T. terminal at 7 in the morning. You should plan to get at Sankri about sunset time. Breakfast will be served at Kempty Falls, which is located in Mussoorie. During this incredible road trip, we will go via Mussoorie as well as many other charming towns, where we will be treated to a spectacular view of the lush vegetation and rolling hills. We are going to take a trip that follows the banks of the River Tonnes, which will ultimately morph into the River Supin farther downstream. At Purola, where we will be having lunch, you will be able to indulge in traditional fare from this part of the world. By the time it becomes dark, we'll have arrived in the Sankri settlement. As a result of the several treks that are located in the surrounding region, Sankri has developed into a busy centre for hikers over the course of the last few years. There is a breathtaking panorama of the setting sun across the valley from where you will be staying, which is either a hotel or a guest home. In the evening, supper will be provided, and during the briefing, your trek leader will go over all of the specifics of the walk with you.

  • Day 2: From Sankri to Sikolta

Prepare to enter the heavenly realm! You can hear the peaceful silence of the mountain valleys reaching out to you. Your walk today is going to get off to a fantastic start because of this. After waking up, we will do some stretching and warm-up exercises, then we will have a nutritious meal and then we will begin the walk. After a very short hike from the main market, you will reach Bandarpunch mountain, also known as the Black peak, which will captivate you with its views of the peaks of Swargarohini (I, II, and III). As you make your way up into the thick pine forest, it is really calming to stroll beneath the canopy of the trees. Keep an eye out for some of the rare Himalayan birds as you make your journey up! You will arrive in Jaional Thach after you have traversed the whole of this path. From this vantage point, you will also be able to identify Phulara Ridge. From this point on, the path will divide into two; one of the branches will take you to the well-known Juda Ka Talab on the way to Kedarkantha Peak. The alternative path winds its way through a thick wood on its way to Phulara ridge. We are going to continue hiking for another hour till we reach Sikolta, the location of our overnight campground. It is a huge meadow that also has an alluring atmosphere. In addition to the many streams, there are a few abandoned shepherd cottages to be found here. After that, we'll go to bed and get some much-needed rest.

  • Day 3: From Sikolta to Bhoj Gadi

After you've had a nutritious breakfast, it's time to begin moving. Following a steep ascent through the forest for the next half an hour, we will arrive at a bridge that stretches over the valley. The next step will take you to Karsu Thach, which is the name of a lovely blossoming clearing. You are greeted by the surprise sight of the Kedarkantha peak as you stand on this Thach, which provides a clear view of the treeline as it recedes. We are going to move into a new region that consists of rolling meadows. The campground at Bhoj Gadi is around half an hour's walk away from here. The meadow known as Bhoj Gadi is a beautiful place. From this vantage point, it is possible to take in breathtaking views of Swargarohini, Dev Kyara, Kedarkantha, and Vijay Top. From this location, it is also feasible to make the ascent to Kedarkantha Peak!

  • Day 4: From Bhoj Gadi to Pushtara Thach via Phulara Ridge

The Phulara ridge may be seen rather well when seen from the camping area at Bhoj Gadi. From this location, it will take around half an hour to reach the ridge. The ascent that you take today will be particularly spectacular, as you will be surrounded by breathtaking vistas of mountains the whole time. Keep a sharp watch out for some of the unique Himalayan birds that inhabit this area. Following a strenuous trek, we will arrive at the ridge's highest point. At the very top, there is a breathtaking vista that stretches out in every direction. Peaks like Swargarohini, Kala Nag, Devkiyara, Bandarpoonch, Rangnala, Hanuman Top, Top of Sarutal, Vijay Top, and Kedarkantha will be seen. Once we have had some time to relax and take in the scenery, we will get moving in the direction of the Pushtara meadows. On the Phulara Ridge Trek, we will continue to trek along the notorious ridge walk as we make our way along the ridge. In order to go to Pushtara Thach from here, we will have to make a short descent. The presence of a number of little streams that run through the meadow makes it a very desirable location for a camping trip. After such a long and taxing day, we deserve a good meal and some relaxation.

  • Day 5- From Pushtara Thach to Taluka and to Sankri

The route down to Taluka is very direct, but you should still use caution as you go down. We are about to enter a thick forest, which has routes that are notoriously difficult to navigate. There are also langurs that may be seen in this area, swinging from tree to tree. We shall arrive at Taluka once we have completed the trek. The town of Taluka is comprised of a scattering of stores and an abundance of friendly faces. This hamlet is the very last one that can be reached by road. In addition, the well-known Har Ki Dun Trek departs from this location. As soon as we get in Taluka, a car that will transport us back to Sankri will be waiting for us there. Our lodging will be in the form of a homestay or a guest house. You will get a real sense of the local culture and customs when you visit the village. We are going to spend the night at this location.

  • Day 6- From Sankri to Dehradun

If you booked transport with us, the vehicle that will drive you back to Dehradun the next morning will be ready and waiting for you when you get there. You should plan to get in Dehradun about six o'clock in the evening. You will be dropped off at ISBT Dehradun by the taxi. It is time to say goodbye to your fellow trekkers and go off in our own directions, taking with us a wealth of lovely memories and experiences that will stick with us forever.
